Westfield High School (WHS) and Centreville Presbyterian Church (CPC) have entered into a Faith-based/School Partnership for the purpose of improving student achievement and increasing community relationships through the sharing of resources.
WHS Bulldog Prayer Kick-off
As a business partner to WHS, we will host a time of prayer to start the year off well. Students and parents are invited to join other local churches, youth groups, and Christian fellowship groups on Monday, September 6, 2010, 7:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. here at CPC. Join us as we pray for the Lord’s blessing on the students, teachers, staff and administration. Questions? Contact Sharon Hoover (sharon@centrevillepres.com) .
Community Service. Working with the WHS staff and students, we assist the school in coordinating opportunities for students to serve in the community. We are looking forward to volunteering at WFCM, Food for Others, the Lamb Center and Rebuilding Together. CPC adults serve at the volunteer locations alongside WHS students. We also partner together in food and clothing drives. Watch the Sunday bulletin and church newsletter for details of the quarterly drives.
Ethics Day. Working with local businesses, WHS sponsors a daylong event for their sophomore class. Ethics Day participants wrestle with challenging scenarios, hear from police officers and lawyers, and learn valuable lessons from the high school seniors. Many adult volunteers are needed to serve as small group facilitators during the day. Sign-up at the Connection Center for this Fall's event.
Baccalaureate. CPC hosts the student-planned service for a time of thanksgiving and reflection for the graduating class and their families and friends. Please plan to stay for a reception in the lobby following the service.
BITS. Would you be able to share your academic abilities?? Hosted at WHS, the BITS program provides academic support to students of all ages in Math, English, Science, Social Studies and Foreign Language. Area professionals are needed to tutor. Tutoring sessions are held throughout the year on Saturday mornings from 8:45 – 11:30 am.
