This fall, our Growth Groups will be doing a sermon-based study of I Timothy.  This is a letter in the New Testament, written by the Apostle Paul, to a young pastor named Timothy at the church of Ephesus. Paul gives Timothy advice and instructions on how to lead God’s people, the church. We will discover that this letter offers a constellation of truths for the church today, such as:

  • The use and misuse of God’s word  (1 Timothy 1:1-11)
  • What’s the big deal about grace?    (1 Timothy 1:12-17)
  • How to deal with a controversial passage  (1 Timothy 1:18-2:15)
  • The marks of spiritual maturity  (1 Timothy 3:1-16)
  • Serving God in the workplace  (1 Timothy 6:1-2)
  • Experiencing contentment amidst financially uncertain times  (1 Timothy 6:3-21)

There will be an opportunity each week to discuss these stirring issues in greater depth. Growth Groups will be meeting from October 4 – November 21.  Sign-ups will begin on September 12.

Members talk about their experience....

Mark and Jill Rumple
- Having two small children sometimes makes adding “something else” to the already busy schedule seems like an impossible task. However, making the commitment to become a part of a Growth Group has been a rewarding experience! Mark and I have enjoyed seeing each other's faith grow, building intergenerational relationships that have helped us be better parents, and to really form bonds with other church members. You just don't get enough time on Sundays to cultivate relationships like you do in a Growth Group. We don't feel anymore that we have added something else to our “list.” Growth Group is just what we do because it feels good.

Scott and Laura Koenigsburg - We joined a Growth Group last Spring because our prior experience had been so positive. The discussions of the book Fearless by Max Lucado were thought provoking and relevant to our lives. We especially enjoyed meeting other CPC members and developing new friendships. Growth Groups provide a wonderful opportunity to gather, study a chosen book or a book of the Bible, and visit with fellow CPC members in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We can't wait for the Fall Growth Groups to begin!
